Fishscale Gaff Co. became official in 2022.  The journey here started long before...   My name is Matt and the ocean was my first love.  I grew up fishing, diving, spearfishing, and surfing Southern California as a kid in the 90s.  This may be very relatable to some of you, but I remember the days as a kid where the excitement and anticipation of hopping aboard an open party charter was too much to bear to be able to fall asleep the night before.  I got certified for SCUBA at 12 years old and soon put away the tanks for breathe-hold spearfishing.  When there was no swell to surf, we grabbed our guns and our fins and swam out. One of the most beautiful sights Ive constantly been reminded of my whole life is being 30-50 feet down stalking a reef and then time stops and you forget you're not breathing because you were distracted by looking up at the suns rays shining down upon you through the water column.   I graduated college from Long Beach State University with a business degree and traded in a desk job to get back out to sea.  Fishscale Gaff Co. formed by accident and is now a passionate venture.  I put pride into each and every build and strive to accommodate anyone who wants handmade fine craftsmanship that's built tough and ready to do its job.
